The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) of Zone 12 Headquarters in Bauchi comprising Bauchi, Borno and Yobe states has elected new officials to steer the affairs of the committee in the zone.

The new officials were announced unopposed by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Musa Maijawa, in Bauchi at the weekend.

He said the election of new officials followed the dissolution of the former officials by the Inspector General of Police.

According to him, the decision on the election was taken unanimously by the delegates from the three states to ensure that each state gets representatives.

Alhaji Sanusi Maijama was returned unopposed as the Chairman while Alhaji Dambua Yobe is the Vice Chairman.

Others are Alhaji Maina Digma Ghana, Secretary; Alhaji Kalla Musa, Treasurer; Abubakar Ibrahim, Legal Adviser; and Alhaji Shetima Bukar, Financial Secretary; all returned unopposed.

Yusuf Goni and Alhaji Abdullahi Maigari are to fill the post of both Auditor and PRO respectively.

Three ex-officios were also constituted from the three commands of Bauchi, Borno and Yobe states

In his acceptance speech, the new chairman, Alhaji Sanusi Maijama’a, assured of an open policy, adding that the new officials will be fair to all and defend the constitutions of the committee and that of Nigeria.

Maijama’a said that PCRC will provide opportunity for police community deliberations that represent the broad views of the people on matters of public safety.

“This will bring about improved collaboration to serve the people better, fostering friendship and mutual respect among the people and the police.

“Police Community Relations Committee would offer opportunity for members of Nigeria Police Force to have members of the communities as representative of the police organisation,” he said.

The newly elected chairman assured that PCRC would ensure crime reduction and orderliness, noting that police community relations bring improved co-ordination between Nigeria Police Force and the society.
