Zamfara State Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Danjari Kwatarkwashi, has warned that any private school owner operating without proper registration would be sanctioned.

Kwatarkwashi gave the warning in Gusau, the state capital, during a meeting with proprietors of private schools in the state.

He said in spite of efforts by the Ministry of Education to register them, some private schools were still operating without registration.

He also warned the private schools not to operate on their own calendar but must comply with the calendar of the ministry in order to have a unified system of education in the state.

The commissioner advised the private school operators to employ qualified staff in order to provide qualitative education in the state.  He said the ministry would set up a committee that would be inspecting private schools across the state to ensure qualitative education.

Mr Umar Galadima, the Secretary, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), said private schools in the state had employed qualified teachers as part of efforts to enhance quality of education.

Galadima said that private schools had reduced congestion in public schools and provided quality education for their students.
