Lagos – Wedson Nyirenda, the Chipolopolo of Zambia coach, is praying for Fennecs of Algeria to hold their own against the Super Eagles on November 12, while also believing that his side would cause major upset by winning against Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in Yaoundé.

To Nyirenda, who spoke on Tuesday to a Zambia media, The Post, Nigeria’s draw against Algeria will throw the group open where all the teams will start afresh to fight for the sole slot.

“We know that the match against Cameroon will not be easy but we are ready to take them head-long,” he said.
“Our plan is to go to Cameroon and get the desired result but I am praying that the match in Nigeria end without a win and it will favour us because through that, there will not be a very clear leader.

“But before we talk of the Nigeria and Algeria match, we have to do our own job very well against Cameroon,” Nyirenda said.
The Chipolopolo coach also calls for a scouting department that will help them monitor Zambia’s professional footballers abroad ahead of the World Cup qualifying matches.

“We are trying so hard to get information on what some players are doing outside and we are seeing some of them on TV.  It is something tricky; we need a scouting department in the system, people that can travel to see these players.”

Zambia plays Cameroon, while Nigeria engages Algeria in the day-two of the qualifiers. Nigeria leads Group B with three points followed by Cameroon and Algeria, who both shared the spoil in Algeria while Zambia is at the bottom of the table after losing 1-2 to Nigeria in Ndola.
