Ughelli – Comrade Tobore Osifo Adjogbe, a former youth chairman of Agbassa Community, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, and Comrade Charles Ejoh have commended President Muhammadu Buhari over the appointment of Engr. Samuel Ejenakevwe Adjogbe as Executive Director, Projects, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
They youth leaders called on President Buhari and the National Assembly to ignore the disapproval from some Itsekiris, as they did not have the backing of the respected Itsekiri monarch and other well-meaning Itsekiri leaders.
“Besides, Evwreni, my paternal country home, is one of the communities in Niger Delta that has highest numbers of oil wells. So you can see that the appointment of my elder cousin is divine,” Adjogbe  said.
On his part, Ejoh, a Warri-based APC chieftain, hailed Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, the leader of the party in the state, for influencing the appointment of Adjogbe to the NNDC position, as he pointed out that the appointment was a party affair and not an ethnic matter.
“It is selfish for any sane individual from the core Delta State to oppose the appointment; we have been calling for patronage from the Presidency in terms of appointment. Now that Mr. President has considered one of us for the exalted position, we are now opposing the good gesture for selfish reasons.
“This was how we lost the headquarters of Delta State to a region that was not in the core Delta State. What was the reaction of the handful of the misled and misinformed Itsekiris when a person from Delta North was appointed as a junior minister of petroleum? What would have been their reaction if another Delta North person was appointed into the position?” he said.
