Benin – Iwogban community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State on Tuesday declared that no earthly forces will deter the victory of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Godwin Obaseki, in the September 28 election.

Making the declaration when the APC campaign train visited the area, the Odionwere of Iwogba community, Pa Erhunmwunse Daniel, said the people have pledged to support Obaseki as the next governor of the state and urged him to revamp the rubber factory in Temboga to create job opportunities for the youths and aid in the resuscitation of the economy.

Pa Erhunmwunse also tasked Obaseki not to forget the plight of the community in terms of basic amenities and infrastructure when sworn in, saying, “We are waiting for the 28th of September to perfect it. God has ordained your victory, our ancestors have approved it. So count yourself already a governor in this state.

“Make us your priority, a lot is needed at Iwogban, we believe you are capable and when we elect you as our governor, you will put smiles in our faces”, he stressed.

Responding, Obaseki, who said it was unfortunate that ‘old-cargoes’ will resort to peddling lies to deceive the people, noted that his government when elected will ensure the provision of essential basic amenities to the people of the state.

Obaseki said, “I am not an old time politician that lies; you have seen all the roads we have done in the last eight years.

“We will bring an industrial rig to provide water for the community. We will take the statistics of those unemployed and provide jobs for them. In all the schools we have built, we will also build a technical centre that will train the youths on skill acquisition.

“As a governor, I will do my best to provide all the basic amenities you require in this area”, he added.
