Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, has appointed and swore-in his new Cabinet.

This came on the heels of his victory at the Election Petition Tribunal.

Those sworn-in as commissioners include; Mustapha Gajirema (Agriculture); Mohammed Ismaila Nguru (Finance); Mohammed Lamin (Education); Muhammad Surajo Wakil (Works); Dawa Maigari (Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs); Adamu Garba Talba (Commerce); Aji Yerima Bularafa, Bukar Dauda – Ministry of Land and Survey; Hajiya Hajara Lawal, Ministry of Women Affairs; Alhaji Mala Musti, Ministry of Religious Affairs; Dr. Mohammed Bello Kawuwa, Ahmed Mustapha Goniri, Ministry of Justice; Idi Barde Gubana, Ministry of Budget; Zanna Akariyya, Youths and Sports; and Jibrin Kortomi, Ministry of Water Resources.

After the swearing-in, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam revealed that the fall in the price of crude oil in the international market was affecting the state’s subvention from the Federation Account.

“This therefore poses serious challenges to our developmental efforts. It is in view of this development that we had to reduce the number of our Ministries, Departments and Agencies for consolidation and cost reduction. The civil service has recently been invigorated with the posting of Directors and other Senior Officers based on seniority and area of specialization”.

He enjoined the new commissioners to ensure judicious utilization of whatever funds that would be allocated to their ministries with transparency and accountability as their watch-ward. “They should be seen to be living above board in the discharge of their duties in line with the philosophy of our great party, APC”.
