The coordinator Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) in Niger State,

Alhaji Akilu Kuta, has said that the only way to end youth restiveness was for government to create jobs for youths, particularly the graduates roaming the streets.

When jobs are created with social amenities such as electricity and pipe-borne water in rural areas, the problem of youth restiveness across the country would reduce, thereby decongest, he said.

Kuta also blamed over-population in cities which has led to piles of refuse and dump sites and slums causing air pollution and overstretching of existing social amenities on the failure of government to open up more roads in rural areas to discourage rural-urban migration.

Speaking to newsmen on the activities of the organization in the state and across Nigeria generally, Kuta said that Nigerian youths as future leaders were the hope of tomorrow and as such should not be toyed with.

“We are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to check youth restiveness across the country by providing employment opportunities and social support for them to become gainfully employed but to create jobs and employ their fellow youths,” he said.
