Gani AdamsNational Coordinator of the Odua  Peoples Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams, on Thursday, paid a solidarity visit to Nigerians living in South Africa in a move intended to assure them of protection over the spate of xenophobic attacks on foreigners in the country.

Receiving Adams and his entourage,  Nigeria’s ambassador to South Africa,  Uche Ajulu-Okeke, revealed that some Nigerians who were target of the attacks had had their businesses disrupted.

In reaction, Adams has promised to sensitise Nigeria Government and Nigerians on the need to come to the aid of the country’s citizens affected by Xenophobia, while expressing his willingness to support the Mission and Nigerians in any capacity within his ability.

He also promised to propose to the Federal Government the need to make laws that will further protect Nigerians who have legitimate reasons to live and work abroad.

While assuring Nigerians resident in the country of continued support, the Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa  informed the OPC chief that the embassy has dedicated the old embassy building as a camp for Nigerians to seek refuge from further attacks.
