Public Sector Governance Reform and Development Project, a World Bank-assisted public sector initiative, has donated multi-million naira worth of assorted materials to the Plateau State Audit Department to facilitate its operations and strengthen its capacities.

Making the presentation in the office of the state Auditor-General  at the state secretariat  in Jos, Project Coordinator of the Public Sector Governance Project, Yusuf Pamancha, said the gesture was in line with the need to position governmental departments to function promptly and respond to industry challenges and afford global best practices.

Chairman of the occasion and state Commissioner for Finance, Davou Mang, in his address on the occasion, observed that the public sector governance reform project has already made positive impact in less than one year of its existence, pointing out that this latest gesture coming after the training of the state audit staff on computer applications was not enough “as government is more committed to improving the work conditions so that staff can compete with their international counterparts”.

Among the 18 assorted items received by the Auditor General were a 15-seater, 2014 model Toyota Hiace bus, a DLP projector frame screen, 2 horse-power air conditioners, furniture, black and white and colour printers, and a power-generating plant.
