We won’t victimise workers, residents who voted PDP, Fashola assures

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, on Tuesday said there would be no form of victimisation of civil servants and residents who voted for the opposition party during the general elections.

There had been tension and uneasy calm in the state after the elections, as the voting pattern in some local governments suggested that areas dominated by non-indigenes voted massively for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate. Hence, some non-indigenes had become apprehensive that they might be witch-hunted for their decision during the elections.

But Fashola doused such fears, saying that no resident or worker will be victimised for the choices they made at the polls, neither should they be seen as enemies.

Addressing thousands of civil servants at a meeting held at the Blue Roof, Lagos Television, Ikeja, Fashola said “Choice must never divide us. So, across Lagos, across Nigeria, on Saturday, we were PDP and APC, when elections are over, we are Lagos. It was a contest to serve, that’s the most important thing.

“The majority has spoken and this is where they are. Once we approach things like that, we won’t have a problem. The task ahead is daunting, at the state and national level. Those who didn’t vote in the first election
