I Won’t Leave Liverpool –Balotelli

Liverpool’s misfit striker Mario Balotelli is looking to stay with the club this summer, despite reports linking him with a move away from Anfield.

Liverpool is ambivalent at best to the future of the Italian forward, however the Guardian suggest the 24-year-old is intent on sticking with the Reds to attempt to prove his worth with another year on Merseyside.

Balotelli is rumored to be unwanted following a disappointing year which yielded only four goals all season, an unsatisfactory return since his £16m arrival last August.

Despite a year of general mediocrity, the desire of the goal-shy attacker to stay at the club may be read as a positive, signifying the striker is determined to improve for the next season. A host of Liverpool forwards are reported to be on the way out this summer, and Balotelli may believe his chance is forthcoming courtesy of these departures.

However, manager Brendan Rodgers has been vocal in his criticism of the temperamental former Manchester City player, often condoning his unsuitability to the style of play implemented by the Northern Irish coach.

It appears Rodgers would be pleased to see the back of the out-of-form forward, rather than have the player attempt to win a place in the starting line-up for next term, straining the wage budget whilst he does so.
