It was a black Monday morning in the federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja when four persons, including a woman survived a ghastly motor accident that left their vehicle burnt beyond recognition along Abuja-Zuba expressway.

Daily Independent Metro reliably gathered that the victims in a J5 mini bus were heading to the popular tomato market at Dei-Dei from Gboko, Benue State when the accident occurred.

The source said they were three in number before they took off for the journey, but picked the woman along the road before the accident. “The driver must have slept off as a result of dizziness having covered such a long distance. He suddenly veered off the road and crashed into the gully,” an eye witness who gave his name as Silas said.

The man said it took the combined efforts of the police and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps to rescue them from the bus. Daily Independent Metro further learnt they were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

An official of the FRSC who confirmed the accident, attributed it to poor visibility and over-speeding.
