Woman, 26, Docked Over Allegedly Assault

A 26-year-old woman, identified as Ada Egole on Tuesday March 12, appeared before an Apapa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly pouring faeces on her neighbour.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Tony Elibeh told the court that Egole, a resident of 15 Okulaja Street, Ajegunle, Apapa, Lagos, on April 3, this year  unlawfully assaulted one of her neighbour’s identified as  Justina Olajide at her residence.

Egole is standing trial on a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace. She pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the prosecutor, Egole allegedly beat Justina to a pulp and subsequently poured faeces on her body, over a misunderstanding.

The police prosecutor further said that the defendant claimed that the complainant was very rude to her, so she beat her up.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 166 and 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, which attracts three years jail term on conviction.

However, Chief Magistrate, Titus Abolarinwa, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum, while the case was adjourned the case till May 5 for mention.
