The Warri Wolves FC on Monday defeated Heartland FC of Owerri, 2-0 at the Warri Township Stadium in the week six match of the 2015 Globacom Premier League (GPL).

The match was shifted from April 26 to Monday following the heavy shower in Warri that left the pitch water-logged.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the match commissioner decided that the match should be played on Monday after certifying that the pitch was not in a good condition, as at the time to host the match.

Warri Wolves’ Lordson Ichull opened scoring for the home side in the 32nd minute of play.

Gbolahan Salami doubled the lead on 75th to seal victory for the hosts.

Heartland was close to equalising in the 42nd minute when Ejike Bright took a shot outside the yard 18 box that hit the crossbar.

The visitors made a good comeback in the second half, by pressurising the home team’s defence but failed to convert their chance.

At the post match interview, Warri Wolves Technical Adviser, Paul Aigbogun, said his boys played according to instruction. “We dominated the game and we deserve the victory.

“Our focus is toward our next game against MK Etanchetie FC of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the Africa Confederation Cup,” he said.

Meanwhile, the management of Wikki Tourist has approved the recruitment of a physiologist.

The Chairman, Sule Chindo, said on Monday in Bauchi that this was a vital technical crew member that had been missing in the club.

He said they had a volunteer physiologist that assisted them in past, noting that most of their players with attitude and other problems had since changed.
