Warri Wolves and Super Eagles striker, Gbolahan Salami, has given assurance that his team has what it takes to win the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) campaign, saying dethroning Enyimba at the summit of the league table is possible.

Speaking to Daily Independent, Salami, who lamented how players are been owe salaries over a period of months, insisted that the Warri Wolves can win the title if only the management can motivate the players with money.

“To be frank, if the management can help us sort out our monetary issues, I believe Warri Wolves can dethrone Enyimba from the top of the league table and win the title.

“The players are trying their best to ensure the team grabs the title but a situation where they are being owed salaries for many months, you don’t expect them to be happy.

“We are being owed six months salaries which is not good for us considering the fact that money plays a vital role in energising the players. My aim is to become the highest goal scorer this season but injury is not really making me achieve my goal.”

The player, however, fancies his chances of playing abroad, while also promising to make his mark on the home front before his move abroad.

“Well, like you know, it is the dream of every player to ply his trade in Europe and I believe that I am going to actualise it despite the first issue I had with Red Star Belgrade.

“I just believe I need to start my new life in the Nigerian League before thinking of going abroad. I know that with prayers and hard work, I will definitely make my way to Europe very soon.”
