Pastor Osagie Ize- Iyamu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) In Edo State, has said that he would endeavour to give his best to the downtrodden whenever the need arises.

He was speaking on the occasion of his visit to the Christian International Mission Centre in Ohugua, Edo State, where he donated relief materials worth millions of naira to the displaced victims of Boko Haram insurgency from the North East parts of the country.

The ex-Secretary to the Edo State Government, who was accompanied by a horde of his friends, visited the place in commemoration of his 53rd birthday, said that the situation he met the victims and the camp when he got there was way beyond what he was expecting.

He said that the camp and the people inhabiting it were in dire need of support viz healthcare, infrastructure and even food among several others. “I have spoken with some of them and the stories they will tell you is more than what you’ll read in the papers.  The horror, the killings, the bombs exploding without any notice and all the other atrocities that were committed to their parents and even to them. They are lucky to be alive and this is certainly a more secured environment.

“When you see the challenges here (inside the camp) it is pathetic. The children here are more than a thousand. There is no resident doctor or nurse. Many of them have all kinds of medical challenges because of what they went through,” he averred.

Solomon Folorunsho, the pastor in charge of the mission, thanked the visitors for their show of love and prayed that God will continue to bless him in all his endeavours.

Earlier in the day, Pastor Ize-Iyamu and his friends numbering close to 500, had donated blood at the National Blood Transfusion Centre in Benin.
