Wike Plans Ecumenical Centre In Port Harcourt

Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Governor of Rivers State, has said that his administration would build an ecumenical centre to unite all Christian denominations in the state.
Wike commended Christians in the state for praying and supporting his administration all through the period of voting and litigation.
The governor spoke at the Government House, Port on Friday when he granted audience to the new Chairman of Rivers State Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Primate Isaac Anyanasikike and the new Methodist Archbishop of Port Harcourt, Most Reverend Sunday Agwu.
He approved March 9, 2016 as a day of prayer for the state to be organised CAN.
He also said that the state would hold a rededication service after the rerun to commit the state to God.
He said: “Our pledge to build an Ecumenical Centre for Christians will be actualised.  This promise is meant to unite Christians of all denominations.”
The governor approved the request of the Methodist Church of Nigeria to hold a Special Night of Songs on his Supreme Court victory by a special choir.
Earlier, Primate Isaac Anyanasikike, the State CAN Chairman, assured the governor of support of Christians in the state.
He said Governor Wike has lived up the expectation of the people.
Most Reverend Sunday Agwu, Archbishop of Methodist Church in Port Harcourt, praised the governor for his performance since assuming office.
