Wike Donates 20 Security Vans To Police

Port Harcourt – To further strengthen  the  Nigeria Police to fight crime in Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has donated additional  20 patrol vans fitted with state-of-the-art communication  equipment  to the security  agency.

The governor and the 23 local government areas of the state had on two previous  occasions  released 110 patrol vans to security  agencies  operating in the state.

The latest donation brings the number  to 130 security  vans fitted with communication gadgets.

The governor  also facilitated the release  of  dedicated telephone  lines to the police for faster response to residents in distress.

Wike donated bulletproof vests and helmets to the Rivers State Police Command.

Making the presentation  to the Rivers State Police Command,  Governor Wike,  represented by Mr. Onyemachi Nwankwo, the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Port Harcourt, assured all security  agencies  operating in the state of his commitment to assisting them with the required  logistics to perform their functions effectively.

He noted that the Rivers State government  would continue  to  play her role in the strengthening  of the state security  architecture,  so that people can continue  to peacefully live and do business  in the state.

Governor Wike  commended the Nigeria  Police for its  efforts to enhance the security of lives and property in the  state.

Receiving the patrol vans, Foluso Adebanjo, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, commended Governor Wike for responding to the demand for facilities that would help nip crime in the bud.

He urged eminent persons and the general public to cooperate with the police on the issue of providing useful information to enable the force bring down criminality to the barest minimum in the state.
