What’s Wrong With Abdulsamad Rabiu?

Like a struggling sailor, the tides have been very unpleasant for businessman Abdulsamad Rabiu.

Sometimes back, he was held to ransom by his employees in Bua Flour leading to weeks of protest before the issue was resolved.

Subsequently, some of the protesting staffer with the company were paid off, while the company was later sold off to Olam International in a deal worth $275m.

During the signing of the agreement, Rabiu was quoted as saying that the company would be divesting to business areas with greater potential for export where the sourcing and utilisation of foreign exchange is less and most of the materials needed for production can be sourced locally.

However, it’s been a while since the divesting tales was released and nothing has been heard about the new grounds being broken by the company. The situation has led to speculations about the real status ofRabiu.   

AbdulSamad Isyaku Rabiu is a Nigerian businessman. His father, Khalifah Isyaku Rabiu was one of Nigeria’s foremost industrialists in the 1970s and 1980s. Abdul Samad is the founder and chairman of BUA Group, a Nigerian conglomerate with interests in manufacturing, infrastructure and agriculture.
