Women’s Health and Action Research Centre (WHARC) has unveiled its ultra-modern Guest House and Event Centre in Edo State.

It is part of the group’s efforts to attract new foreign investors to the state and to generate internal revenue.

Launching the edifice, chairman of the occasion, the ‘Okuokpellagbe’ of Okpella Kingdom, Alhaji Andrew Yesufu E. Dirisu, noted that the ‘‘WHARC Guest House and Event Centre meet international standard”.

“In these days and age when various non-governmental organisations are struggling to survive due to declining support from donors, I have no doubt in my mind this guest house will help WHARC in sustaining its humanitarian services over time’’.

The Okuokpellagbe said the contribution of Professor Friday Okonofua, founder of WHARC, to women’s health in Okpella has made him (Okuokpellagbe) to confer the chieftaincy title of ‘EFUE’ of Okpella kingdom, one of the highest ranking chieftaincies in the land, on him (Okonofua).

Earlier, Professor Cyril Monkwenye, Executive Director of WHARC, had clarified that ‘‘WHARC is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation established in 1995 with a mission to work for the improvement of the reproductive health of women and adolescents.
