Kabiru Dogo, Coach of Nasarawa United Football Club, says the team can still finish among the best four clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), in spite of playing goalless with FC Taraba.

The United FC and FC Taraba completed their disrupted week 35 fixture 0-0, at the FIFA Goal Project pitch following attack on match officials last week by fans in Jalingo.

The League Management Company (LMC), had ordered that the remaining nine minutes be completed after the match was disrupted in the 81st minute at 0-0 in Jalingo.

Dogo, however, said that the team would now focus on its match against FC Ifeanyi Ubah, to ensure it secured the needed victory in Nnewi.

“That is football for you; even if you created 100 chances, you may end up not scoring any.

“It is unfortunate that we didn’t take our chances against FC Taraba, but we are going to see what we can do with the remaining games.

“We still have hope of playing in the top four; I believe in the capability of my players because we do well at away games and our next away game is at FC Ifeanyi Ubah.

“We might just pick the needed points there’’, Dogo said.

Nduka Ndubuisi, the Coach of FC Taraba, whose team is in the relegation zone, said that the team will fight until the last day.

“We have not come to the end of the league, but our situation is becoming very tight; we will see the end of the season before we can say we are relegated.

“In every league, somebody must go on relegation; it’s unfortunate that we are in the drop zone and at the end of the day, if we don’t survive, then, we know what next to do’’, he said.

Ndubuisi attributed the team’s challenge this season to frequent changes in governance in the state.

Nasarawa United are currently placed fifth on the league table with 55 points, with just two matches to the end of the season, while FC Taraba are on the 20th position with 34 points.
