A THREE-DAY warning strike embarked by health workers at the Abuja National Hospital on Wednesday halted the activities at the tertiary health institution.

The workers were protesting non-implementation of the CONHESS 10 salary structure as approved by government for healthcare workers.

The strike brought activities at the hospital to a halt as patients, who came for various medical needs, could not access services at the apex health facility.

Spokesman of the workers, Otolori Kokori Matthew, said that several effort, including 21 day ultimatum issued to persuade the hospital management to implement the salary structure had been  rebuffed. He  warned that the workers would be left with no choice but to embark on full scale disruption of services at hospitals should present warning fail to yield desired result.

“We are using the opportunity of the 3-day warning strike to sensitize  the federal government to prevail on the management of the National Hospital to implement the CONHESS salary structure. It is long over due”,he said.

He noted that all other tertiary health institutions in the country have implemented the CONHESS salary structure, and wondered why management of the hospital is dilly dallying over the issue
