Niger Delta Youth Association  (NDYA) world-wide, has described the ongoing prosecution of some Niger Delta citizens  by the Federal Government for their role in the Goodluck Jonathan led administration as “war  against Niger Delta’.

According to NYDA the directive given to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to probe and prosecute former militant, Hight Chief  Ekpemupolo Oweizide Government alias Tompolo, Dr. Patrick Ziakede Akpoboloukemi, former Director General NIMASA amounts to  trampling on their fundamental human rights and that of  other Niger Delta prominent leaders.
In a statement issued on Sunday in America and signed by NYDA President, Comr. Victor James, Chairman NDYA Delta State chapter, Amb. Arerebo Salaco Yerinmene Peter’s Jr, Chariman Akwa Ibom chapter, Comr. Marshal Ime, Chairman Rivers State chapter, Comr. Soboma Amachree and its spokesman, Gabriel Patterson Unyeowaji, the group said: “President Buhari should not mistake our quietness, law abiding and peacefulness as cowardice. We have only chosen and maintain to be civil and mature as law abiding and peace loving people. We are made up of gallant, wide awake, distinguished and patriotic career men and women, with all necessary human skills, tactics, preparedness and capacity to overrun his government like the way he collaborate with his northern and APC party elites to make former President Jonathan’s government ungovernable.

“We have been watching with critical interest the serial threats, harassment and humiliation by President Buhari and his elites on the lives of our law abiding prominent leaders. He uses the EFCC and the DSS to witch hunt, manhandled, tortured a law-abiding and peaceful human kind, Dr. Patrick Ziakede Akpoboloukemi. He declared Tompolo wanted. We are also perceiving how he want to innocently accused and prosecute our Niger Delta leaders.
“Witch hunting of our leaders is fight against us. We shall not take it from him any more. He is distrubing the sleeping lions. No one has the monopoly of violence.”

“We are of the opinion that unnecessary pressures should not be mounted on security agencies against our prominent leaders over a case that had been variously ruled on by courts in Nigeria exonerating our leaders of the alleged offences. Buhari’s consistent disobeying of the democratic rule of law and violating the human right  will not help Nigeria an independent state.
“We urge the Nigeria Human Right  Commission to look at the merit of the issues and also appeal to notable human rights groups in the country to stand up and conduct objective inquiry into the matter so that the fundamental human right to liberty and association of the prominent Niger Delta leaders are not trampled upon at the behest of political interest,”   the group said.
