To break away from its slow responses to complaints and enquiries by candidates, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has assured Nigerians that the problem will soon become a thing of the past.

The national office of the regional examination body said it is now possible for a crop of trained WAEC staff and candidates to interact real time.

Head of National Office (HNO) of WAEC, Charles Eguridu, gave the assurance at the commissioning of WAEC Customer Service Centre donated by Media Concepts International Limited in Yaba, Lagos.

“I am sure that our candidates will make the best use of the centre. It is also my hope that this centre will facilitate a favourable interface between the council and its various publics,” he said.

He assured that the centre will add value to the educational aspirations of the Nigerian child. The council, he continued, is in the process of replicating this project in all its zonal offices throughout the country.

Continuing, he called for more private sector partnership with WAEC “in the spirit of Public-Private-Partnership and to invest in ICT development and new innovation. This will increase service delivery to our stakeholders, and enhance the quality of our service on another hand”.

Chairman of the occasion, Prof Pai Obayan, expressed hope that the centre would fulfill the purpose for which it was established by offering quality customer service to candidates.

“At Media Concepts International Limited, part of our vision is to add value to our clients. As a responsible corporate citizen, we are committed to helping our clients succeed in their endeavours by making their dreams a reality.

“Our objective for constructing and furnishing this centre is to help the council achieve its overall customer relationship management strategy which is in synch with WAEC’s strategic plan,” he added.
