Rooney Set For Villa Challenge, Herrera Out

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is set to play more minutes in today’s game against Aston Villa at Old Trafford after returning from a knee injury in the FA Cup win at West Ham.
Also, midfielder Ander Herrera is out with an injury though, while Bastian Schweinsteiger is unlikely to play again this season.
Manager, Louis van Gaal says his belief in young players is one of the reasons he was appointed manager of Manchester United, but refused to discuss whether his philosophy to promote youth will have a bearing on his future this summer.
The Dutchman says he is pleased to have seen 18-year-olds Marcus Rashford – who has scored six goals in 11 games – and Tim Fosu-Mensah break into the first team this season.
Van Gaal is also calling for consistency in the final two months of the season, but is happy to still be in the FA Cup and the race for a top four finish in the Premier League.
Both teams last played in August 2015 and Manchester United won the game 0 – 1. Before that they played in April 2015 and Manchester United won the game 3 – 1.
Manchester United is currently fifth in the Premier League with 53 points having won 15 games, drawn 8 and lost 9. They are four points below Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa suffered its seventh consecutive defeat as they dropped a 1-2 decision to middling side AFC Bournemouth at the Villa Park last Saturday.
It was simply the theme of the season for the Villans as they are most likely headed for relegation to the Football League Championship next season with only five games left in their current campaign.
