Chinedu Udoji, the Enyimba of Aba captain, has maintained that the Peoples Elephant would fight to retain the Nigerian title it won for the seventh time last season; even as the player acknowledged that the race won’t be easy.

The captain of the continental campaigners said Enyimba may have a daunting task on its hand in both the domestic league and the CAF Champions League, but maintained that both fronts would be pursued with zeal.

“Enyimba will fight to retain the league title and also win the CAF Champions League. Our aim is to make it three for Nigeria in the Champions League and also retain the league.

“We have shown enough gut and ability with the way we handled the last matches of the first stanza; that defined the strength in this team. We are pursuing both domestic and continental challenges with high zeal and our management share similar feeling,” he said.

Enyimba plays Zamalek of Egypt on June 17 in Port Harcourt in its opening match of this year’s CAF Champions League group stage.
