U-17 World Cup: Change Has Begin To Show In Nigeria, Says Al-Makur

Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Tuesday, said that the victory  of the Golden Eaglets at the just concluded U-17 World Cup is a testimony that change has began to manifest in Nigeria.

The governor disclosed this in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Ahmed Tukur, and made available to Daily Independernt in Lafia, the state capital.

Al – Makura said that the ‘superlative’ boys have prove to the world that Nigeria is on the right course and have also added value to desire of the administration of president Muhammadu Buhari to change the fortunes of the country.

He added that the performance of boys have uplifted the spirit of Nigerians and made the country proud signifying that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

The governor then urged Nigerians to celebrate the victory with civility and also use the victory to open up other avenues for success in every sector of Nigeria.

Al-Makura said that the boys needed every support to proceed to next level in football and call on all Nigerians to use sports for unity and progress.

He however appealed to football lovers in the state to replicate the patriotism shown to the Super Eaglets by going to the Lafia Township stadium on Sunday to give Nasarawa United Football Club the needed support to win and make the top 3 in the premier league table and earn a continental spot next season.

“Our boys in the state must also emulate the character, discipline and focus of the victorious Super Eaglets to achieve their set objective of playing continental football next season. I implore supporters of the team not to relent in giving the club the needed support to achieve this feat,” He added.
