Tinubu Bars Pro-Saraki Senator From APC Caucus Meeting

The National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has barred the Ondo-Central Senatorial District lawmaker, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, from attending the party’s South-West caucus meetings.

The Punch reports that the Sen. Alasoadura was barred from the meeting for allegedly working against the interest of APC’s South-West leadership and allying with Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Alasoadura was also one of the pro-Saraki senators that followed him to the Code of Code Tribunal in solidarity on Tuesday.

An APC source told Punch that Alasoadura had been blacklisted from all APC South-West meetings for his disloyalty to Tinubu.

“Alasoadura was a Commissioner for Finance under the late Dr. Olusegun Agagu for over five years. He later defected from the Peoples’ Democratic Party to the Action Congress of Nigeria. Tinubu accepted him and appointed him the Director-General of the Rotimi Akeredolu governorship campaign organisation in 2013.

“When Tinubu convened a South-West meeting in Abuja during the height of the National Assembly crisis, Alasoadura came. However, Tinubu walked him out of the meeting.

“Tinubu also warned senators present to ensure that sensitive issues were not discussed in the presence of Alasoadura as he was an enemy within,” the source added.

However, days after the face-off with Tinubu, the Ondo senator issued a statement pledging his loyalty to the APC and denied supporting Saraki.

An APC leader confirmed suspicions that all was still not well between Alasoadura and Tinubu following the former’s appearance at the CCT on Tuesday, adding that the party has vowed to make him irrelevant henceforth.
