The Delta State government has waved aside the issue of some People Democratic Party (PDP) leaders that defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the weekend.

The administration stated on Monday that the defectors left the party soon after Governor Ifeanyi Okowa started to release the names of political appointees.

Chief Paulinus Akpeki, former member, Federal House of Representatives and Chief of Staff, Government House, Asaba, led the pack of the defectors, which included Mr. Misan Kubeyinje and Mr. Ebifa Ijeoma, two former commissioners under former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, and Dr Okwara John, former gubernatorial aspirant.

Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, stated this on Monday at the Delta Broadcasting Service, Asaba, when he went to inspect facilities at the radio and television station, warning that very soon those that left the PDP for the APC would regret their action.

“’They have decamped before; they have come back, gone again,” Ukah said.

He also urged staff of the Ministry of Information, DBS and Pointer Newspapers, which he visited on a familiarization of parastatals in Asaba, to change their old ways and adjust to the SMART Agenda of the present administration in order to market the government effectively.

He warned against negligence and indiscipline by the staff, especially when a lot has happened within the 100 days of the administration of Okowa.
