Text: Mark 6:21-27

“And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;

And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.

And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.

And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.

And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.

And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath’s sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.

And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison.”

John the Baptist, the forerunner of our Lord Jesus Christ was arrested, detained and killed at the request of a witch. What was his sin? He told King Herod who snatched Herodia, another man’s wife to return the woman and lived rightly.

There are so many people that found themselves today inside prison yard of poverty, sickness, barrenness and others. Many people are living in the world today contrary to the will of God.

A prisioner has a uniform. He cannot wear the cloth of his choice. He is restricted to a particular life style.

Many are born great but they live perpetually inside prison. They cannot exhibit glory.

I found out that with the tragedy that happened to John the Baptist, then life is a choice.

Regardless of what you are passing through, if you ignore God, your situation may remain like that forever.

God said you should be fruitful and multiply but you don’t have a child. He said he has given you power to possess wealth but you live today in abject poverty. You cannot blame God. The same soldier that John the Baptist preached to, beheaded him.

God was expecting him to react. His only reaction was weeping. Is that not what you do too? You begin to sing sorrowfully in your house because of what you are passing through. You are very wrong.

If John had risen and seek the face of God, he would have escaped.

David was 17 years when he faced Goliath the giant and won him. When people were telling him how great Goliath was, he said he did not see giant but grasshopper. The bible says those that believe in their God shall be strong and do exploit. Whatever your enemy is using to attack you will turn to miracle in Jesus name.

The process of execution of John the Baptist was very insultive. It was a small lad, a bastard in the palace that enemy used to remove the head of a warrior. There were armed robbers in the prison including kidnappers. They did not behead them. It was the head of the great prophet that went for it.

Though Herod was not at ease with this demand but he had to comply because of his oath.

He ordered the soldiers to go to the prison to bring John. When they got to the prison, John thought they had come to release him. John waited and wasted! The prophet who was bound in chains was brought out of the prison for slaughtering.

Every shame that is insulting your God will roll away in Jesus name.

Today is the last Sunday of this month. What will you say you have used the seven months of this year to do? They did not behead John the Baptist twice, it was once.

They put the bloody head in a charger and gave it to the child and she handed it over to her mother. It was highly ridiculous. You were born great but you are lost in the crowd. Nobody feels your impact. You are worse than a stinking corpse. If you live without creating news, you are an abortion of destiny.

One of the assignments of Herod is to wipe away the lives of glorious children.

Every family has a Herod. As long as your Herod is alive, your future is not definite.

Above all, live a righteous life to command the attention of heaven. Confess your sins and forsake them. Allow Holy Spirit to take over your life.

You Herod of my father’s house that troubled my parents and vowed to trouble me, You are a liar, die by fire.

Every written judgment established to eliminate me, scatter by fire.

The day that enemy has concluded to slaughter me, turn to day of my testimony.

May God set you free from every Herod in Jesus name.

See you on the top!
