….I’m not shaken- Gov Darius
Rotimi Akinwumi
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tuesday said emphatically that it has had enough of what it called “impunity” on the part of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government.
The government led by President Muhammadu Buhari was therefore warned to learn to live with opposition rather than making frantic efforts at snuffing life out of the opposition.
Prince Uche Secondus, Acting National Chairman of the PDP made the observation on Tuesday while playing host to Governor Dairus Ishaku of Taraba state who came to brief the party officially of the Tribunal judgement which invalidated his mandate, and the steps he has taken to appeal against the judgement.
Secondus condemned what he considered as unfair judgement being given against the PDP almost at every Tribunal, which he said, the judges are issuing against the PDP because of intimidation from state apparatus under the control of APC.
He noted in particular that the judgement against the Taraba governor cannot stand in the face of law as he insisted that the party followed every stage of the Electoral Act and the PDP guideline in the submission of the name of the governor and his deputy to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and said they were not rejected then.
Prince Secondus expressed shocked at the ground of the nullification of the election and said the law would take its cause.
The Acting National Chairman accused the APC led Federal Government of using security agencies to write tribunal judgements.
“There is a grand plan to takeover PDP states. The tribunal judgement is a conspiracy. We believe in the judiciary, we believe that justice will done, we believe that nobody will coarse the judiciary.
“The president should know there will be no development without peace. The president needs peace to drive his change. There is tension everywhere.
Speaking on the budding crisis of Biafra agitators- in the south east states, the PDP Chairman said the best option available to the president and his government is to engage in negotiations and dialogue with the agitators rather than use of force.
“The government should engage South East where people are protesting, in a discussion but not to coarse or arrest ?them.
“There is crisis in the land. Government should dialogue with the people,” Secondus advised.
Earlier Governor Ishaku whose election was voided last Saturday by the election petition tribunal, said he was not disturbed by the tribunal judgement.
The Taraba State Election Petition Tribunal which sat in Abuja, declared APC governorship candidate, Jumai Aisha Alhassan, winner of the April 11 governorship election after it held that the governor was not validly nominated by PDP as its candidate.
But Ishaku who was at the PDP National Secretariat on Tuesday to brief the party leadership on the development, said he was confident that the judgement would be upturned at the Court of Appeal.
“I am not shaking; God is on His throne. I will defend the mandate Taraba people gave to me. I have confidence in judiciary but there is corruption in the judiciary. Just like in every profession, there are bad eggs.
“There are good drivers and there are bad drivers. It is unfortunate that this driver (of the tribunal) was a bad driver. That judgement was an accidental discharge,” he said.
The governor expressed surprise that a tribunal, which held that he won the election could delve into pre-election matter.
He said the judgement was a rude shock to the people of Taraba, and advised President Muhammadu Buhari ?to start his anti-corruption fight from tribunal judges if he wants to succeed in his war against corruption.
The governor told the party leadership that normalcy has returned to Wukari area of the state where there was violence, and charged the political class to ensure safety of lives of their supporters.

Blame PDP for your loss and not buhari or judiciary. Where is rule of law when you were picked as governorship candidate without primary? You are suffering from the impunity of the past of your party.
