The Anambra State Police Commissioner, Mr. Hosea Karma has warned policemen serving in the state that any officer who received bribe would be sacked. He also said that any Divisional Police Officer found to be corrupt and wanting in his duties will lose his job.

The CP gave the warning during a tour of police barracks in Idemili and Onitsha on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Ogidi Police Division in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, the Commissioner of Police reiterated the Governor Willie Obiano-led administration’s resolve to flush out criminals from the state, which he said was manifest in the support the State Government, had provided the State Police Command.

According to him, “consequently, we must be on our toes, we must be up and doing. Corruption is not allowed, you will be sacked if caught. Your uniform is your license and if you abuse it by extorting money and carrying out other illegal activities you will be dismissed.”

He also advised members of the division to face their duty and not to be enticed by politicians or to be turned into revenue agents. The CP warned policemen not to join revenue agents to collect money as it was not their duty.

He also said the Anambra State Police command has declared members of the Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) enemies and miscreants insisting that “they came into this state as freedom fighters but have turned to be enemies of the state and we say no”, he stated.

The police boss also urged officers and men of the Division to steer clear of civil cases and land matters in their own interest. He reminded them that bail is free and warned that whoever was caught taking bribe would be summarily dismissed.

The CP also visited Fegge Police Station, where the DPO, Mr. Rabiu Garba listed some of the problems confronting the station to include, waterlogged environment which hindered access to the station especially when it rained and construction of drainages.

The DPO tabled his achievements that included, construction of water borehole and security tower post at the gate by Transglobe Pharmaceuticals, donation of 17 KVA generating set, fencing of part of the barrack and sacking of illegal tax collectors.
