A prominent politician in Benue State, Atoza Ihindan, was on Friday, July 17, 2015, shot dead in Katsina-Ala, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Ihindan who is the godfather (and kinsman) of the immediate past governor of the state, Gabriel Suswam, and father of former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in the state, Terfa Atoza, was a member of the state House of Assembly in the Second Republic.

Daily Independent gathered that the incident took place at a site acquired by the elder statesman, Ihindan, opposite low cost housing close to Radio Benue booster station in the local government.

The police detail attached to him had responded with fire shots but we learnt that the bullets had no effect on the assailants.

We further gathered that the assailants who were on a motor bike then sped off using the route through a primary school at Dzege.
