Benue State Governor, Gabriel Torwua Suswam, has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to avoid hate speeches and vendetta even as he has pledged a smooth transition.

He made the charge while speaking with newsmen at Government House, Makurdi on Monday.

According to him, “Members of the PDP and APC should avoid hate, vendetta and unnecessary witch-hunting of political leaders on the basis of their partisan affiliations and embrace peace.”

Suswam also advised the state governor-elect, Samuel Ortom, to caution APC supporters against destroying bill boards of PDP candidates in the last Saturday’s elections, noting that if not checked the actions of the APC supporters may heighten tension and degenerate into a crisis.

The state governor also called on the people “to work towards healing and reconciliation in the spirit of togetherness as a people with a common destiny.”
