Suspected Cultists Arrested In Imo

Imo state Police Command has arrested suspected cultists terrorising Egbu community, Owerri North Local Government. 

The arrest according to the commissioner of Police, Mr. Austin Evbakhavbockum was propelled by the information gathered by his men.

He made the disclosure while briefing newsmen at the Police Command Headquarters, Owerri, the capital of the state.

He said that operatives of the command upon the information immediately swang into action but met stiff opposition as the cultists engaged the police team in gun fire.

According to him, two of the cult received gunshot and were arrested while others escaped.

The commissioner said one Chimaobi Iheme (aka Saka), who was known as the lord, gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.

Represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Dare Akinremi ,the CP gave the names of the other suspects arrested at the scene as Opara Chinwekene, 25, and Amarikwa Tochukwu Frankly, 24, both from Mpam village Egbu, Owerri.

The suspects he said voluntarily made useful statements that they were members of a cult known as NEO Black movement aka black Axe.

He listed items recovered from them to include; three locally made pistols, seven live cartridges four expended cartridges, two  cutlasses, one hand cult axe, six GSM phones, one keke NAPEP and one motorcycle.

The police boss appealed to members of the public to always supply his men with useful information that could assist them apprehend criminals in the state wherever they are.
