My Survival During Sagamu Accident A Miracle, Says Driver

Abubakar Umar, one of the survivors of an accident that occurred on Sagamu axis of Ore-Benin Road on Monday has narrated his ordeal.

According to the driver, who hinged his survival on miracle, he said he was yet to come to terms with the circumstances that led to the accident.

He told our correspondent that it was a miracle for him to have escaped unhurt when he lost control of the vehicle on the road.

He ran into the slippery road unaware like other victims before his truck lost balance, skidded off its track and plunged into a valley by the roadside.

No fewer that four persons, including a commercial motorcycle operator were feared dead while others sustained varied injuries during the incident.

The accident which occurred around 8p.m on Monday near the Sagamu Junction at Old Toll Gate, Daily Independent Metro findings revealed that the accident was caused by the truck ferry diesel which fell on the other side of the expressway and emptied its content.

The operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Police and Ogun State’s Traffic Management Agency (TRACE) had a running battle controlling traffic during the incident.

It was also learnt that motorists travelling in the direction of Benin who ram into the  slippery lane were swept off the road with some crashing into the concrete and somersaulted afterwards, while others plunged into a nearby gorge.
