Be Strong In The Lord II

As we stated in the first series of this topic, life is war.  The earth is a battle field and not a party ground.  It is the survival of the fittest in the jungle.  To go to a battle front casually as one going to a party is dangerous.  You’ve got to be strong.  The weak cannot meet the demands of life.  They cannot be all that God wants them to be.  The only way to enjoy the full blessings of God is to be strong.  It is the strong that does exploits in life.  Therefore, you’ve got to be strong. Ephesians 6:10-12 states “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”.

The word of God says you must be strong in the Lord.  Why must we be strong?

 There are battles to fight.

We wrestle not against flesh and blood.

Satan the head of our enemies has a mission to steal, kill and destroy.

 Ways to Victory

Be born again.  When you become a son of God, power of God will be available to fight your enemies.  It is only the born again that can fight invisible enemies and win. 1 John 5:4-5 says “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world … who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God”.

Be filled with the Spirit of God.

It is through the power of Holy Spirit we can conquer the enemies cheaply.

 Walk in Holiness.

God’s weapons work in favour of those who walk in Holiness.  You are not a Christian if you are habitually walking in sins.  Jesus came to save us from sin and not to sin.  Sin is a destroyer.  Do not permit it in your life to avoid failures and destruction.

 Be Strong in Prayers.

A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian is a common knowledge among believers.  Jabez (2 Chr.4:9-10) dislodged poverty from his life through prayer.  David turned the counsel of Ahitophel to foolishness through prayer.  Jesus was so committed to prayer that you cannot joke with prayer and expect to win in life.  In Mark 1:35, we were told he went to a solitary place early in the morning to pray.  In Luke 6:12, Jesus prayed all night.  In the garden of Gethsemane, he prayed so fervently that his sweat was like a drop of blood.  Can you compare your prayer life with that of our Master?  Can you see the reason why you shake before the enemies as a jelly fish?
