Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Former President, on Friday commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for his efforts at improving the standard of living of the people of the state.
Obasanjo was on transit and paid a courtesy call on the Governor.

The Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Ali Modu-Sherif, and some other top politicians in the country were also present. They had all returned to Enugu after attending the burial ceremony of the mother of Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi.

Addressing the dignitaries, Obasanjo broached the issue of governance as it affects the growth of the nation and called on the governors of the 36 states in the country to improve their respective performance in order to give the nation a new lease of life.

“From the reports I get, you are doing well. If out of 36 states of the country you can get one that is doing well, it would be encouraging to continue to work on others to do well and by the time you can get up to 50 percent of the states doing well, it would mean the country would be better. So, keep it up,” the former president said.

Ugwuanyi thanked the former president for his visit and for his kind words.
“We are, indeed, very grateful. We will continue to benefit from your wealth of experience so that we can continue to serve our people better,” the governor said.
