Members of the South-East caucus of the House of Representatives yesterday expressed support for Speaker Yakubu Dogara on his plans towards ensuring that all geopolitical zones in the country get represented within the body of Principal Officers of the lower parliament.

Speaker Dogara had in a correspondence to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC), chief John Odigie -Oyegun argued that there was need to consider lawmakers from the south-East geo political zone line with the principle of federal character which stipulates that all parts of the country should be reckoned with in the sharing of appointive positions.

His position was faulted through a counter letter to the same Odigie-Oyegun by a group of APC members under the aegis of “APC Loyalists Group who argued that the Speaker erred in his arguments.

However, the issue got messier yesterday when one of the two members of the House elected on the platform of the APC in the South East Augustine Chukwukere, in letter to the APC chairman on behalf of the South-East warned the party against the attempt to marginalise them as implied in the letter the Chairman wrote to the Speaker and the hard stance of his colleagues on the matter.

The letter was copied President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Progressive Governors’ forum  mediator) and Governor Rochas Okorocha, Chairman, Progressive Governors’ Forum.
