Alhaji Shehu Usman is the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Arewa youth leader in Lagos State. In this interview with AUGUSTINE ADAH, he speaks on the government of President Muhammadu Buhari in the first one month. Excerpts…

The government of President Muhammadu Buhari has come under severe criticism, especially from the opposition party, that it lacks focus and is too slow, what do you think?

Before I was born there is an adage that says, ‘slow and steady wins the race’; when I was born, I also heard people saying that slow and steady wins the race, and if you are rushing, rushing is for the devil. You need to study what exactly you are going to lay your hand upon, and I am sure the president is taking his time to study things properly. He has said that what they met on the ground as handed down by the former administration is un-presentable and you need to put yourself in their shoes.

Even if you have an agenda to implement, you need to study the place very well before you begin to implement your own agenda. We have heard and seen how people complain of some governments being slow and inactive at the beginning before they swing into action. I am sure that before long Nigerians will see the change they desire from APC. I am also urging Nigerians to be patient with the President and the party because very soon, they would be smiling.

Moreover, we cannot say the past one month of the administration has been without some activities.  The President has been doing his job with the Vice-President; I see them working towards resolving issues of insecurity, unemployment, and corruption. The president has visited the G-7 nations and the group has promised to assist the country, he also visited some neigbouring African countries in his quest to find solution to the problem of insurgency in the northern part of the country. In a nutshell, I can tell you that President Buhari and Prof. Osinbajo are working for the progress of the country and I can assure you that their efforts would soon lead to the upliftment of the country. In addition, very soon the ministers would join to assist them in the task of building the country.
