Skye Bank Rewards Five Pupils With N1m Cash Reward

For their outstanding performance at the just concluded Skye Rainbow essay competition, Skye Bank Plc has rewarded five pupils with N1 million cash prizes.

The essay competition’ organised for children who own and operate the bank’s Rainbow account, was recently instituted for children between ages seven and 12 years as a way of encouraging their intellectual development as well as rewarding them for embracing the savings culture early.

In a statement issued by the bank, each of the five winners, which include: Lagos based, Adedeji Adesida, Feyifoluwa Oriolowo, and Praise Sagbama, won N200,000 in what was a novel intellectual competition for children in that age bracket.

Others were Abasiodiong Aniefiok, Uyo based and Olukayode Sobande, a student based in Ibadan.

Skye Bank’s Head of Retail Banking Group, Nkolika Okoli in the statement explained that the bank chose to stand out from others this year by putting in place a special programme for the children to celebrate them.






She said: “Apart from the five winners who won N200,000 each, other consolation prizes would also be presented to other participants who did well in the competition”, adding that the competition would act as a customer reward programme as well as promote savings among children in their early lives to enable them imbibe the culture of financial discipline.

Okoli pointed out that the competition, which is a yearly programmes, would be open to both new and existing Rainbow account holders whose age ranges between seven and 12 years.

She also explained that the length of each entry must not be more than 200 words, while entry showing parental input would be disqualified.

“The essay must show the child’s good understanding and good presentation of the topic, the child’s personal savings experience and creative ideas for savings,” the statement read in part.

The topic of this year’s essay competition is “the importance of an early savings habit”.
