Siasia Hopeful As Eagles Land In Dakar

Nigeria’s team arrived Dakar, Senegal  for the U-23 African Cup of Nations, with coach Samson Siasia hopeful of achieving the primary aim of qualifying for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The delegation left Banjul where they have been camped for ten days and arrived Dakar on aboard Arik Air.They have also arrived Mbour which will host the first group B games against Mali on Sunday, November 29 before battling Egypt on Wednesday, November 2 in Mbour and three days later play their final group B match against Algeria in Dakar. The Dream Team will kick off their campaign on Sunday

“Our aim is to qualify for the Olympics. If we are able to win the tournament, that will be a major boost to the team,” said the former international.

He however urged the players that did not make his final squad not to be relent on their career but but to work harder.

“I feel sad telling you guys to go, but the truth is that only 21 players will have to make the trip to Senegal, and these selected ones are those the technical crew have seen to be able to give us an Olympic ticket in Senegal,”

“Don’t feel discouraged, go back to your clubs and keep on working on your game, you will have your chance to be part of the team,” Siasia said.
