The executive chairman, Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Mr. Abashiya Koto, has urged the secretary and clerk of the council area, Alhaji Yusuf Bature and Mr Joseph Adamu, respectively to shun corruption and indiscipline in discharging his official duty.

Koto gave the advice during the swearing –in- ceremony of the officials at the council hall in Akwanga local government area of the state.

He said that corruption and indiscipline had affected the socio-economic development of the country negatively, hence the need for all hands to be on deck in order to tackle it for the overall development of the country.

He said “You will recall that three weeks back, the executive arm of Akwanga Local Government Council was dissolved and in an effort to fill the gap I deem it necessary to inaugurate these two important positions, the council secretary and the clerk to day. “These two positions are key to the smooth running of the general administration of the local government council and the conduct of the proceedings at the legislative arm so as to uphold, protect and defend the constitution of the country for the benefit of all.

“I want to call on the newly sworn-in- council secretary and the clerk, others staff and Nigerians at large to shun corruption and

indiscipline as we are all aware that corruption and indiscipline among others social evils have affected the socio-economic development of the country negatively. “For Nigeria to achieve speedy development, political offices holders, civil servants and Nigerians at large must do away with sentiments, corruption, injustice, abuse of office among others social ills for the overall development of the country,” he said.
