Aftermath of the sack of Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, last Saturday, the fate of his goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu, is hanging in the balance.

This is because the former Super Eagles goalkeeper was yet to renew his contract with the NFF before Keshi was kicked out last Saturday.

Sources close to the goalkeeper trainer revealed on Tuesday that despite assurances from some board members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to the contrary, Shorunmu is not sure of what fate awaits him.

This is the more when the NFF made a categorical statement asking Salami Yusuf, to take charge of the team, albeit in the interim, without a mention of Shorunmu.

“Ike is not worried. He believes that what will be, will be,” said the source, who pleaded anonymity.

“Ike told me that a board member (names withheld) has assured him of the safety of his job, but that is not official.”

The source also revealed that Keshi has refused to pick Shorunmu calls since the news of the sack broke last Saturday.

“Ike has called Keshi several times to no avail. He sent messages but Keshi did not acknowledge any,” added the source.
