Senator Shehu Sani on Sunday gave scholarship to  the children of a soldier, Corporal Musa Ibrahim, who was  killed in an ambush two years ago by Boko Haram terrorists in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Sani, representing Kaduna Central, said that he was moved by the Facebook post by a friend of the late soldier about the neglected children who were driven out of school due to the inability of the family to pay the school fees of the five children of the deceased soldier.

The senator, who visited the Ibrahim family in Maraban Jos, promised to sponsor all the five children from the primary school up to tertiary Institutions.

He also promised to empower the mother of the family with funds to trade. to enable her train the children of the deceased soldier.

“I was moved because if it were a normal country the government would have taken up the responsibility, but you can see this family is suffering,” Sani said.

Fielding questions from newsmen after the visit, the senator said, “The reason for the sponsorship is to see that these children, when they grew up, they will know that their father died for others to live and for the peace of the country.”

Mother of the slain soldier Hajiya Rukaya, thanked the senator for coming for their rescue and prayed that God would him to fulfill his promise.
