Lagos – Super Eagles assistant coach, Imama Amapakabo, believes that the team would qualify for the World Cup in Russia, basing his optimism on the form of Nigerian players.

The Rangers International of Enugu coach said that all that the players need to qualify was to believe in themselves and replicate their club forms at the national team.

The coach, who spoke to Independent on Wednesday, also highlighted the optimism in the Rangers camp ahead of their decisive match against Ikorodu United at the weekend, saying that the Flying Antelopes hope to get a favorable result in the encounter.

“Nigeria is in a tough World Cup group and there is no doubt about that, but I have the belief that we will qualify with the quality of players we have both in Europe and in Nigeria,” he said.

“Following that is their forms. We are watching the boys every week and I can tell you that we are impressed with their forms. I hope that they replicate that same form when we play Zambia and the other countries. We will definitely qualify,” he said.

On Rangers, Amapakabo said that the players have resolved to approach the Ikorodu United match with all seriousness in order to get the desired result.
“We are working very hard to get the desired result in that match and the players are not resting on their oars,” he concluded.
