Super Eagles defender, Elderson Echiéjilé, is of the opinion that the team can defeat the Pharaohs of Egypt to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Egypt tops the group with six points after two matches, while Nigeria sits second with four points ahead of next year’s double header between the two teams that could decide which team picks the group’s sole ticket.

Echiéjilé revealed that the Pharaohs is beatable if the team plays to its full potentials.

“Egypt is a good side but on our day they are no match for us. The team is beatable home and away but we also must play well and take our chances if we must qualify. That’s the task achievable under the new coach,” he said.

However, Echiéjilé disclosed that the two international friendly matches the team would play against Congo and Cameroon would help prepare it adequately.

“The Nigerian Football Federation should be hailed for these games to be held next month. I feel those games will truly show where the team is after four games under the guidance of Sunday Oliseh,” he said.

“So far the transition has been smooth and with the players invited for the games I’m confident that the team will be more fortified ahead of our World Cup qualifier in November and the Nations Cup next year.”
