Contrary to earlier reports, Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, was unable to make the truce meeting called by the party over crisis that trailed the tussle for leadership of the eighth National Assembly.

APC lawmakers-elect and some chieftains of the party had converged for the meeting at the International Conference Center for the meeting to broker peace among factions that emerged in the build up to the contest only to hear that elections were going on at the National Assembly and that Senator Bukola Saraki had emerged the new Senate President.

After waiting for about two hours, the lawmakers, most of them members of the House of Reps stormed out of the conference center with the realisation that the situation at the Senate had happened behind them.

Some of the APC big wigs present at the meeting include Bola Tinubu and the party’s spokesman, Lai Mohammed, who arrived hours later.
