Salisu Yusuf, Super Eagles’ interim Head Coach, has invited 26 players, including skipper John Mikel Obi, forwards Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo and goalkeeper Carl Ikeme for the forthcoming international friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg in Europe.

Nigeria will play Aiglons of Mali in France on 27th May before flying to Luxembourg to take on that country’s National Team on the first day of June.

Defenders Kenneth Omeruo, Leon Balogun and William Troost Ekong return, while Ogenyi Onazi, Abdullahi Shehu, Elderson Echiejile, Moses Simon, Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi and Aaron Samuel are back to familiar terrain.

Other invited players are goalkeepers Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa, with defenders Abdullahi Shehu, Musa Muhammed, and Gbenga Arokoyo getting the nod.

The coach also invited midfielders Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi , Raheem Lawal, Etebo Oghenekaro and striker Aminu Umar and.

Salisu Yusuf is, however,  upbeat about the upcoming friendly matches, hoping that the friendly matches would be a good exercise for the team.

“I believe that we will do well in the friendly games. I have capable assistants who will be of immense help to me and I also spent time in Scotland to update my knowledge of the game which I believe will help me on the job.

“The two friendly matches are important to us and I believe we will do well so as to improve on our standings on the FIFA rankings,” he added.

Yusuf is part of a temporary technical team which also includes Kennedy Boboye, Imama Amapakabo, Alloy Agu and Shuaibu Amodu, who is the technical adviser.
