Salesman docked for criminal misappropriation

The police have arraigned one Hillary Abu, 28, of Faysath Ventures Jabi, Abuja, in a Grade 1 Area Court, Kado, Abuja, for alleged criminal misappropriation of fund.

Police prosecutor, Simon Ibrahim, told the court that one Adamu Nasir, of same address reported the matter at Utako Police Station, Abuja, on February 28.

He said the accused was employed in the company as a salesman in the Jabi branch February 2014, he was entrusted with goods worth N170,000 to sell and remit the money into the company’s account.

Ibrahim said he converted the money for his personal use.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 309 of the Penal Code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 and a surety in like sum.

Sadiq said the surety must be a Grade Level Seven Officer in the Civil Service.

He adjourned further hearing on the matter to April 15.
